The business question · Memory methodology

“Does the AI forget everything between conversations?”

The concept

Governed shared memory

Agents share one memory with rules about what counts as a fact.

How it works
All agents read and write one governed memory, repeated context is cached, and only checked facts may be stored.
Why it matters
Knowledge stays with the company when people, agents or tools change, and you stop paying to relearn it.
The result
The agents work from one shared memory, and each fact in it can be traced to where it came from.

The business problem

Every agent was relearning the same facts, and paying for it.

Most assistants start from zero each time, re-reading everything and paying for it again. Several agents work on the same platform. Without shared memory each one relearns the same facts, and long conversations grow until they break.

Why this concept

One self-hosted shared memory, with rules about what counts as a fact

Shared memory compounds knowledge; rules stop agents saving their own guesses as truth.

Also considered

  • Let each agent keep its own notes

Several, working together

Shared memory

One governed store

Fact rules

Only checked facts are saved

Cache

Repeated context is not paid for twice

Result

Knowledge that compounds

What we put in place

  • Served repeated instructions from a cache instead of paying for them again.
  • Compacted long conversations without losing the thread.
  • Gave the main agent and its helpers one self-hosted shared memory.
  • Made it a rule that an agent may not file its own guess as a fact, and reviewed the memory on purpose.

The result

Before

Every agent was relearning the same facts, and paying for it.

After

The agents work from one shared memory, and each fact in it can be traced to where it came from.

I treat knowledge as an asset to govern, not a side effect of chat.

In your organization

Institutional knowledge that stays with the company when people and tools change.
